On page 63 of Pesachim there is a mishna which states that if the person brings the paschal sacrifice has chametz in his possession, the sacrifice is no good. It messes up the sacrifice.
The Talmud then expands that. If one person in the “chabura” or group who is sharing the passover sacrifice has chametz in his possession, it also messes up the sacrifice.
What an interesting lesson. The group is dependent on the individuals to keep the sacrifice viable. The shikkerdovid would like to learn a lesson. The company we keep is important. We should surround ourselves with people who are more interested in ideas than senseless gossip. We should choose our ‘chevra” on the quality of their characters. Their actions or character will effect us.
